This month, we were kindly invited to attend a Charity Auction Gala at The Ritz, London thanks to youth charity YOPEY. We also decided to take one of our clients, Hvitsten Timepieces, along with us.
The Ritz Hotel was opened in May 1906, eight years after the opening of the Ritz, Paris. Struggling with a poor start, business soon picked up with the listed building becoming a hit with socialites, politicians, celebrities and actors. Most recently, in 1995, it was bought for just over £80m, with a further £40m spend on restoring the Hotel’s interior to its former grandeur. It currently stands as the only hotel to have received a Royal Warrant, for its banqueting services to HRH Prince of Wales.
The auction involved a wide range of lots, including signed memorabilia, hotel stays, unique experiences, and one of Hvitsten’s signature watches, the Aurora model. This fetched a large sum, prompting some a hugely rewarding feel for both the owners, and our team as the marketers behind the Norwegian brand.
